Job Description

This position is based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and follows a hybrid work schedule that combines in-office and remote workdays for eligible employees. Fully remote arrangements will not be considered.

About FIRE

The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression’s mission is to defend and sustain the individual rights of all Americans to free speech and free thought — the most essential qualities of liberty. FIRE educates Americans about the importance of these inalienable rights, promotes a culture of respect for these rights, and provides the means to preserve them.

Position Description

The Associate Creative Producer will report to and work directly with FIRE’s director of video, in addition to collaborating with other FIRE Communications creatives and outside vendors.

The duties for this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Collaborating in developing, pitching, and creatively helming the production of high-impact video projects that align with FIRE’s creative guidelines and expand the reach of its video work.
  • Providing creative and technical support throughout all phases of video production, including development, pre-production, principal/secondary photography, and post-production.
  • Researching, pitching, and pursuing compelling new storytelling opportunities that reflect FIRE’s mission, values, and messaging through film and video.
  • Partnering with the director of the Video and Communications team to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and develop strategies to grow FIRE’s video audience.
  • Maintaining up-to-date project tracking and accountability using FIRE’s task and project management tools (e.g., Monday.com).
  • Assisting in the maintenance and organizing of FIRE's Philadelphia-based video studio and DC-based podcast studio to support ongoing productions.
  • Helping organize and maintain FIRE’s video production equipment, post-production systems, and digital assets.
  • Coordinating with external vendors under the guidance of the director of video to support video project needs.
  • Supporting daily FIRE operations and collaborating with other departments on general and project-specific initiatives as assigned.
  • Contributing to and supporting a collaborative creative environment.

This position will also perform other support functions for the day-to-day operation of FIRE and will frequently collaborate with other staff members and departments on general duties and specialized projects. These include but are not limited to assisting with FIRE’s ongoing internal video projects, providing technical and creative advice as needed, and collaborating with other Communications department personnel.

This position involves a moderate amount of travel. Occasional work on weekends and evenings should be expected.

The expected start date for this position will be as soon as possible.

Qualifications

This is an entry-level position. A successful candidate will have 1+ years of professional video production and video editing experience as well as the ability to collaborate with video post-production professionals.

The candidate must demonstrate a knowledge and passion for FIRE’s mission and an ability to articulate that passion in a way that will make others enthusiastic about our cause. A candidate must also be able to demonstrate:

  • Exercise excellent creative, technical, and professional judgment while demonstrating a clear passion for FIRE’s mission — and the ability to inspire others through effective communication of that passion.
  • Demonstrate expertise in studio and on-location cinematography (including gaffing, grip, and camerawork), as well as directing, writing, and post-production across both fiction and nonfiction formats. VFX experience is a strong plus but not required.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of developing, producing, and delivering successful video content.
  • Manage and organize video production and post-production workflows efficiently, across multiple projects and stages of production.
  • Communicate clearly and persuasively in both written and verbal formats, including general copy editing.
  • Work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating strong organizational skills and the ability to collaborate with both internal team members and external vendors.
  • Apply creativity and flexibility in implementing new and ongoing projects, making thoughtful decisions while weighing competing priorities.
  • Effectively communicate FIRE’s message through video projects that are coherent, impactful, and aligned with the organization’s mission.
  • Support video production teams — collaborating with talent and crew through development, pre-production, production, and post.
  • Support day-to-day FIRE operations and collaborate with other departments on both general and project-specific initiatives as needed.
  • Help guide both in-house and vendor teams through all stages of concurrent productions in coordination with the director of video.

Experience with studio and on-location video production, video editing experience and knowledge of post-production workflows is required. Rudimentary proficiency with graphic design is preferred. Proficiency with VFX and motion graphics is a strong plus.
