SCOPE
Provides religious leadership and pastoral care to detainees at assigned facility. Serves as main point of contact for and leads a comprehensive religious services program including worship, counseling, and coordination of volunteers and religious accommodations.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Religion, Religious Studies, Theology, etc. + minimum 5 years ministry experience, OR
No degree + minimum 10 years ministry experience
Must be fluent in English AND Spanish
Experience, certification, and credentials for pastoral care and counseling detainees
Knowledge and demonstrated experience with wide range of faith traditions
Ability to lead volunteers and create/manage Religious Services Programs
Clinical pastoral education or specialized training preferred
Endorsement by appropriate religious certifying body preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Sound judgment and emotional stability for high-stress environment
TASKS
Serve as main point of contact and facility religious leader
Provide 24/7 availability via cell phone for emergencies
Respond physically to facility within 120 minutes of emergency calls
Conduct individual spiritual and personal counseling for detainees
Make regular rounds to all housing units including restrictive housing (minimum once per week)
Coordinate and lead worship services for diverse faith groups
Plan, organize and create weekly religious instruction opportunities
Actively recruit and coordinate local volunteers for religious services
Approve religious meals and advise on religious property matters
Facilitate procurement of religious items and materials
Coordinate special religious holiday worship services
Provide information to detainees seeking faith conversion (without coercion)
Maintain confidentiality except to prevent crime or protect safety
Meet monthly with officials as requested
Submit required reports and documentation
