Job Summary (Bench Technologist - Generalist):


- Perform as a generalist bench technologist in a medical laboratory setting
- Work four 10-hour shifts per week: Saturday to Tuesday, 10:00 am 8:30 pm
- Required to have experience with EPIC and blood bank procedures
- Conduct laboratory testing in areas such as blood bank, chemistry, special chemistry, coagulation, hematology, serology, phlebotomy, and minimal microbiology
- Consistently report STAT results within 30-60 minutes and ensure testing is completed within required turn-around-times
- Communicate and resolve specimen or testing problems promptly
- Demonstrate competency in both routine and specialized specimen collection techniques (e.g., venipuncture, blood gases, throat and influenza swabs, blood cultures, coagulation studies, difficult draws)
- Exercise sound judgment in determining priorities and managing time
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of laboratory procedures, techniques, and instrumentation
- Utilize initiative and judgment while performing both routine and emergency laboratory procedures
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards
- Requires completion of a CLSI-approved Medical Technology Program or equivalent education and internship
- Must be ASCP board certified (or equivalent), or qualified through HEW accreditation
- Collaborate with other laboratory staff and communicate effectively regarding workflow and issues
