Verizon operates in multiple segments across wireless and wireline connectivity, complimented by a suite of value-added services and world-class connectivity products. The Sr. Manager of Consumer Strategy will work across the organization to identify and analyze key strategic questions that underpin decisions made by or are on top of the mind of Verizon’s Board of Directors and the executive leadership team. The (VCG) Verizon Consumer Strategy team is a high-impact organization driving strategic recommendations at the highest levels of Verizon.
You will be a crucial member of the VCG Strategy team, supporting strategy, planning, and business development, responsible for participating in cross-functional teams through building a vision and making recommendations on critical strategic decisions. The ideal candidate will act as a change agent and a trusted advisor to the Verizon Consumer Organization. You will provide thought leadership and recommendations to Verizon's most senior leaders on relevant topics in the consumer business with objective, clear, and impactful analyses.
This role is dynamic, fast-paced, and covers a broad range of project scope; the ideal candidate will be able to self-govern and be comfortable taking ownership of initiatives that directly impact the growth trajectory of our postpaid portfolio.
Responsibilities:
Supporting senior leadership in crafting analysis, actions, and messaging for key strategic topics
Driving action from insights, progressing a strategic recommendation into real execution
Developing structured, long-term perspectives for Verizon Postpaid, with a strong outside-in orientation
Identifying new business models and cultivate strategic partnerships across the broader Consumer Group
Defining and supporting the strategic planning process and other key operational activities (e.g., capital allocation, budgeting, product development)
Translating strategy into execution, delivering the strategy through key strategic initiatives and levers
Working closely with functional teams to imbue business cases with objective, strategic rationale
Identifying emerging trends, critical business risks, and opportunities to inform all levels of our strategy
Leading cross-functional teams to drive initiatives forward and accelerate benefits collaboratively
Developing and spearheading the creation of high-level business models and business cases
Owning the development and coordination of strategic presentations for our executive stakeholders and major corporate governance forums (e.g., Board of Directors meetings, Investor Relations, Verizon Leadership Committee, executive sponsors, etc.).
You are curious and a constant learner, energized by complex problems and navigating a highly matrixed organization to implement your recommendations. An ideal candidate understands the nuances of the telecom industry and what it takes to drive technological innovation/adoption; you are able to see the bigger picture and help others see it, too. You are passionate about your work and like to dive into the data to identify insights, ultimately translating these into opportunities to enable our consumers to work, play, and connect in new and better ways. You are extremely comfortable working in high levels of ambiguity and are a self-starter who leverages creative approaches to problem-solving.
You'll need to have:
Six or more years of relevant work experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
Two or more years of experience in strategy, consulting, investment banking, or similar experience
Financial modeling experience (e.g., forecasting, creating business plans, analyzing financial data)
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Strong consulting and/or experience with corporate/BU strategy
Analyzing data to drive critical business decisions and recommendations to shape business strategy
Researching market/industry trends, company valuations, competitive benchmarking
Time in a large/complex organization, where developing strong interpersonal relationships and leading through influence are keys to success
A collaborative approach to problem-solving and the ability to bring others along as you develop your data analyses and supporting arguments
Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills (e.g., storyboarding, executive proposal creation, presentation of said proposals).
Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including robust financial modeling skills and the ability to perform and review quantitative analysis with relative autonomy.
Strong self-initiative – the ability to deal with a high degree of ambiguity and drive clarity in critical areas while working in a fast-paced environment.
Strong executive-level communication skills in a rapid-paced environment
Knowledge of handling extremely confidential information appropriately
Ability to travel as needed for business-critical meetings

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
