Job Description
You, our Glass Studio Technician, are an energetic individual and passionate about glass working to keep our Glass Departments operating at a high level. Working closely with the glass and engineering departments, the Glass Studio Technician is responsible for daily operations of the hot, warm, and cold shops, as well as maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of existing equipment. The Glass technician will also build new equipment, and assist the Design Department with new and one off works.
Responsiblities
Maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and upkeep of all glass department equipment, including kilns, furnaces, polishing machines, etc.
Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedule for equipment
Provide technical support to glass team members on safe and proper use of equipment
Work with Procurement Team for sourcing of glass shop supplies, materials, and consumables
Support daily Glass Departments Operations
Collaborate with Engineering Team to design, fabricate, and build new equipment, molds, fixtures, and processes
Support Design Department and Glass team to create prototypes and one-off sculptural works as needed
Qualifications
5-7 years of relevant glass tech experience required
A mature team player with professional integrity, strong initiative and commitment to achieving glass department goals
Deep knowledge of glass shop equipment including kilns, furnaces, coldworking equipment and equipment controller systems.
Must have basic metal working, carpentry, electrical, and plumbing experience
Strong analytical and creative problem solving skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Flexibility to manage several projects simultaneously
Respond effectively to precise direction
Must be able to lift 75 lbs
Glass blowing, glass casting, kiln casting, and coldworking skills a plus
