Job Summary:
The Health Information Management Technician II processes health information under the direction of the HIM Manager or designated supervisor, which includes but is not limited to:
- Pick-up of discharged patient records from nursing units; prepping/scanning/indexing documents in the EMR.
- Answers telephone and responds according to department policy.
- Keeps supervisor informed of issues/concerns that may arise.
- Seeks out additional tasks when assigned work is completed; provides backup coverage for other positions in the HIM department.
- Meets quality and/or productivity expectations.
- Additional duties may include accurately analyze records for de ciencies; manage all aspects of the clerical transcription process; works various work queues in the EMR.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Experience:
- One year of clerical experience required including working with calculations and phone systems.
- Basic experience with Microsoft O ce (Outlook, Word, and Excel) required.
- One year of medical record experience required.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy preferred.
Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred Certifications & Licensure:
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
Schedule Notes:
- 3 month assignment to assist with Project backlog, extension is not guaranteed.
- Requested to help with backlog of missing delivery summaries.
- Work Schedule: M-F, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
- Certifications needed for the Role: RHIT preferred
