Responsibilities
- Review and analyze insurance applications
- Evaluate risk and determine coverage terms and pricing
- Approve, modify, or decline applications per guidelines
- Calculate premiums based on risk factors
- Request additional information from agents and applicants
- Review inspection reports and loss histories
- Maintain relationships with insurance agents
- Monitor portfolio performance and loss ratios
- Stay current with underwriting guidelines and market conditions
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Business, Finance, or related field
- 3-5 years of commercial insurance underwriting experience
- Strong knowledge of insurance products and coverage
- Excellent analytical and decision making skills
- Understanding of risk assessment and pricing
- Good communication with agents and insureds
- Detail oriented with ability to manage pipeline
- Professional insurance designations preferred
- Property and casualty license required
