Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Oral Surgery Assistant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have experience assisting oral surgeons in a clinical setting, providing patient care, and ensuring a smooth flow of operations during surgical procedures. Key Responsibilities:
Assist oral surgeon during surgical procedures, including preparing the operating room, sterilizing instruments, and ensuring a clean and organized environment.
Take and develop radiographs (X-rays) as needed.
Provide pre-operative and post-operative care instructions to patients.
Monitor patient vitals and comfort during procedures.
Ensure all surgical tools and equipment are sterilized and prepared according to safety and infection control protocols.
Maintain accurate patient records and update charts with surgical details, medications, and care instructions.
Assist in patient intake, including gathering medical histories and reviewing treatment plans.
Coordinate with office staff to schedule appointments, surgeries, and follow-up visits.
Educate patients on post-operative care and answer any questions regarding recovery.
Stay up-to-date on the latest dental and surgical practices.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as an oral surgery assistant or dental assistant, with experience in surgical environments.
Strong knowledge of oral surgery procedures, patient care, and dental radiography.
Ability to assist with oral surgery equipment and instruments.
Proficiency in using dental software and patient management systems.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to stay calm and provide support to patients during procedures.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Skills:
Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or equivalent certification preferred.
Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume dental practice.
Knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection control protocols.
CPR/BLS certification.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
