Property Accountant

Position Overview:
The Property Accountant will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting for a portfolio of properties. This includes preparing financial statements, reviewing general ledgers, reconciling accounts, and assisting with annual budgets. The role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and effective communication with internal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with property management to ensure accurate general ledger and subledger records.
Maintain the accounting deadline calendar and ensure timely reporting.
Record tenant cash receipts daily and manage AP invoice review and approvals.
Coordinate payments for critical invoices, including property taxes.
Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Perform balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis, and operating expense reconciliations.
Assist in preparing annual property budgets.
Support special projects and ad hoc tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
1–4 years of accounting experience; real estate industry experience preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Experience with MRI is a plus but not required.
Strong attention to detail, organizational ability, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Self-motivated with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
